The aim of this work is to demonstrate the benefits of using high-speed infrared thermography during high-speed impact tests on carbon/epoxy laminates made from a UD ply. The analysis focuses on the appearance and growth of damage observed in the images, and on the evolution of the maximum temperature increase observed during the various tests. For the configurations studied, high-speed infrared thermography provides information on matrix cracking, delamination and fibre failure that may occur during ballistic impact testing.
