The results of advanced numerical analyses of impact tests on CAI specimens are presented. Experimental data for different thicknesses and impact energies are available for comparison. The experimental database has been developed as a joint effort of the AIRGREEN 2 consortium participating in the Regional Aircraft IADP of the Clean Sky 2 H2020 programme. Impact analyses are developed by incorporating an interlaminar damage model based on the Cohesive Zone Model (CZM) into 3D finite element (FE) models. Furthermore, high fidelity FE simulations of standard ASTM delamination tests have been developed in order to fine tune the CZM parameters. Subsequently, the same parameters have been used to simulate impacts at different energies. It is demonstrated that the adopted techniques can predict the delamination damage caused by impact events with a high degree of accuracy.
